This isn't something I need help with or anything, but I am excited to share that I was in SF yesterday near Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill and heard all this squawking and looked up into the windy sky and saw...yes....really saw.... the wild parrots of Telegraph Hill. We stayed up there for awhile and saw them several more times...There seemed to be only 20 or less, but what a thrill.
If you haven't seen the flick of the same name...do so....it's one of my absolute favorites......

and if you're in SF and you hear some raucous bird cries, look up and you might see the bright green birds, tumbling in the windy sky.

What is the story behind them? Were they a couple of pets who got loose and bred in the wild to become a flock? Do people feed them or do they find their own food? That is kind of cool they are with their own kind :)

Every day they swooped and squawked around and around just overhead. There were far more than 20. The colors were incredible. I haven't seen the film but from what I remember from living in the City, they are mostly "escapees." Wonderful to see!

At the Ferry Building in early 04 I saw the parrots, 4 of them. An
astonishing sight to look up on my lunch breaK and see these green wonders circling around the Ferry Building and the area of Justin Herman Plaza. Glad to hear they're still functioning as winged avatars of the marvelous in SF!

Or read the book by the same title and same author. It's very moving and gives a taste of SF and years gone by.
