I seem to have joined Google+ some time ago without remembering that I did so or why. Is there any good reason for staying on Google+ or is it just a redundant time-waster, like being on Facebook twice? If the latter, I'll cancel my membership.

Google has had this nasty habit of forcing you to sign up for Google + along the way. No its not worth it. And it opens you to more spam, if you look at some of Google's current antics (people now have the option to send you email on Google + even if they don't have your email address). I never use Google + and most of the people I know don't use it either. Facebook is more useful, although lately I am missing a lot more posts because of their change in their algorithms.

I'm wondering about Google+ too. I purposely checked it out last night, since I heard it would allow Skype video type communication w/better service & connection. It felt like a nightmare bombarding my senses with multiple layers of uninvited material. There was a window that said I could go to a gear icon at the top & choose to turn off some of it, but I couldn't find the icon anywhere. I tried to set up a profile, etc. but couldn't make much sense of it. Got the impression I was being mined for data and promoted to in a shockingly excessive way. Cancelled out my account. I might still consider using it, but not without guidance about setting boundaries.

Google is something I would recommend completely abandoning, primarily due to their political playground and friends they frolic with - they are no friends of ours that's for sure. Then again neither is Facebook, that puts WaccoBB high on the list of social media outlets with integrity - of course that's a very short list.
Here's a quick overview about the latest F*** job from Google:

I've had bad experiences on Google+ having to do with data mining ... I finally deleted everything but gmail ... I would stay away from it ... but that being said, there is no safe private place on the internet ... I read that the NSA is working on controlling Tor now ... You have to be yourself and not give a dam or shut off the computer and go to the beach ...

If you have not yet looked into this attachment, regarding ALEC, I suggest you take a look. Another example of the manipulation going on within our government, thanks to the Koch Bros.

I have a personal story about Google+ ... I wasn't going to get into it but maybe my experiences will help someone else ....
I didn't even know that Google+ existed until I got an email inviting me to join a google group, Worldwide Government Watch, or something like that ... it looked interesting so I joined ... every once in awhile I would go there for news reports ... this was supposedly a group to expose and fight the 1% ... I posted a few news stories one day after ignoring the group for over a month ... the owner of the group immediately contacted me and made me a moderator suggesting that I should post as much as possible because we had to fight this thing together and he needed my help ... within a week he sent me the password to the group and said that I should take over if something should happen to him, which I thought was strangely premature ...
After a couple of weeks he wrote to me and asked for an introduction to all of my online contacts so that he could grow the group by inviting them ... at this point I felt that something was wrong so I left the group and blocked the owner because I had built up a few contacts and postings on google+ which he would have access to unless I did this ...
I went to the group a few days later just to check the news feed as a non-member ... I could tell by the settings that the owner had somehow unblocked himself from my account and now had access to all of my information again ... at this point I deleted everything ... two weeks later a contact from that group wrote to me to tell me that he was convinced that the owner of the group was a government agent ... now here was a guy prompting us to publish our most damming evidence of government abuse ... if that isn't entrapment then I don't know what is ....
