https://www.waccobb.net/forums/waccobb/keep90days/2014-01-27_14-09-59.pngI suppose this is an unusual request, but I'm wondering if anyone wants to share custody of an Umbrella Cockatoo?

I work during the day and have to leave her home in her cage. Cockatoos are very social, active and intelligent and they get extremely bored sitting in a cage all day. As a result, she is overpreening excessively (that means biting off her own feathers).

Would anyone like to share custody--- almost any arrangement would work-- day/night, a week or two trading back and forth, etc.

It would best if you were:

1. Someone who has had a cockatoo, or at least a parrot. This is not an easy animal to take care of--- they require a lot of time and attention and special knowledge of how to handle them. It's sort of like having a two and half year old.

2. Probably best if it's someone who is home a lot--- the main reason I am doing this is so she will get a lot more socialization.

3. She tends to prefer women over men, but has occasionally bonded with men who "get" her.

If this interests you, please contact me and I we can discuss it.

Thanks.

Phil
