It occurred to me several years ago that the shipping container parked in the lot between Petaluma Avenue and Highway 116, near Hopmonk, might make a good home for one or more people who are now homeless.

Just now, I came across this video clip of shipping containers being used in just this way in Great Britain. Any thoughts, information about the Sebastopol shipping container re: people in need of a home?

Oops. On second thought, I believe that the "shipping container" is actually the car of a train. I imagine it's a relic from the train that used to serve Sebastopol. Essentially the same question, though. Could it be used now as a shelter for Sebastopolians who need shelter?

If you search further you'll find that shipping containers have often been used for housing ... some creations are basic and some are quite elaborate using 4 or more which are connected ...

I think that it's a great idea ... they are cheap, sturdy and affordable ... yes, it would be nice if this resource could be used to house homeless people ....

I doubt that anything in the center of town would work ... too visible for some people ....
