The rumor is apparently true.

These are of the historic two-half door style and in my experience very inviting each time I would visit friends or attend the receptions there. This deeply saddens me.
I can understand the need for change, but change for changes sake seems mindless to me. Change may be necessary for public health and safety or to add a sense of freshness to a private space. And of course, the “owners” of a business (within the limits of the lease) have a right to make changes. I, for one, look with suspicion at change that destroys the charm and beauty of public spaces and historical elements that individually and ultimately collectively, reduce or eliminate the sense of what makes our community.
Again, I am sad to see Sebastopol loss yet again what makes it special.
