According to a PD article (https://www.pressdemocrat.com/article/20131022/articles/131029881?title=Sebastopol-City-Council-freezes-out-new-chain-stores#page=0), the Sebastopol City Council extended its 45 day ban on chain stores passed in September for another 10 and half months and may make it permanent! Notably, it excepted banks and gas stations.
A chain store is defined as "as having 10 or more locations, offering the same menu or products in all branches and having consistent branding throughout the chain."
That sounds great to me! How about you??

A ban on chain stores in Sebastopol sounds good to me. I was at the Sebastopol Planning Commission meeting last night, for the discussion on the Free Speech benches that the City Council has agreed to install at Sebastopol's Mario Savio Plaza.
Many realtors were there, who wanted to have an office in the new Barlow Project, which is zoned for manufacturing. If I understood what happened, the Commission decided that this was not consistent with zoning. My concern is that the development of The Barlow might harm local businesses in the downtown area, which would benefit from our ongoing support.

Excellent! and Let's ban Fracking as well, and Pesticides, and the militarization of the police force, and let's find housing for the homeless right here in Sebastopol.
These are all within our reach and our power!
