Hi- I just went down to San Francisco last Saturday to have a volunteer training at Muttville senior Dog rescue. What I didn't realize is that the weekend would be the best weekend of my life. I fell in love with all the amazing senior dogs at Muttville and had a hard time leaving and coming home.
This is the most amazing rescue and I am so blessed I found them. I spent 2 days loving some of the cutest most amazing dogs. This is a no kill-no cage shelter for abandoned senior dogs. When I first walked in tears came to my eyes when all the dogs ran up to me, spanky who is a white poodle in a wheelchair and several dogs limping came over to say hi to me, then Sandy a yellow lab with bad hips dragged herself over to kiss me, several blind dogs and several deaf dogs made there way to my lap to take naps and give me kisses. I especially bonded with an amazing brown lab named mickey Jagger, who wagged his tail and kissed every person coming over. We then went to Mill Valley on Sunday with all the doggies for an adoption day, some dogs went home to their forever homes a few others went to fosters and Mickey Jagger and others went back to Muttville in San Francisco waiting for their forever homes. I have cried all week, wondering how owners could just drop these sweet dogs off at shelters and leave them to be put to sleep and thank god for Muttville they rescue these seniors off doggie death row and bring them to Muttville, give them love and find them forever homes.
I would love to go to Muttville in San Francisco to love these dogs as much as I can and am wondering if there are other dog lovers on Wacco who would like to carpool with me to go to Muttville. We can set up days to drive there and share in the gas expense. I guarantee the time at Muttville will change your life. I can't wait to go back and spend the day loving these dogs.
Oh and Oprah named Muttville one of her best and gave them a new rescue van and a vw bug with muttville senior dog rescue on it. And Tim Lincecum from the San Francisco Giants- named Muttville his favorite charity and they were recognized by the sf giants...
You can read all about muttville at www.muttville.org.
Lets do what we can to help these babies have the love they deserve and better yet, let them love us- and a day there will get you so many dog kisses and love. Please email me if you are interested in driving to muttville soon.
