I'm thinking about having this done soon, and would appreciate any suggestions--who is good, who to avoid, etc.
thanks

Synergy Solar has a "free consultation" offer in the latest coupon book. I'd give them a call and ask them your questions. :)

I suggest you consider efficiency first.
Reduce and then produce.
Make it tight and ventilate it right.

Conservation measures may payback 10 times faster than solar electric panels.
And there are a variety of rebates available for most conservation work.

https://www.waccobb.net/forums/waccobb/keep90days/2013-10-25_15-24-33.png (https://www.solarworksca.com/)I strongly recommend Solar Works (https://www.solarworksca.com/)- they are a local, family owned & operated business. They put a strong emphasis on reduction, as AJL so eloquently stated, 'reduce and then produce'. Solar Works will help you evaluate your situation - they are honest, reliable, do excellent work and stand behind all that they do. They have been in this business since 1986, really know what they are doing, walk their talk and are great people.

Here's their web site: https://www.solarworksca.com/
& phone: (707) 829-8282

Thanks to be on the move toward renewable energy!
