    Starbucks Drive-Through Going into McDonald's?

I heard a rumor that Starbucks is moving from their current location (next to Fircrest Market) and going into the old McDonald's, complete with a full Drive-Through.

Does anyone know anything about this?

If this is the case, this needs to be stopped.

There is not enough room for a Drive-Through at that location.

What would likely happen, to ease congestion, is a Stop Light would go in right at that spot on 116, to allow safer travel in and out of the McDonald's parking lot.

If the rumored Starbucks move to the old McDonald's is being railroaded through, we need to speak up ASAP.

It did, but Starbucks is 10 times busier.

    You'll have a log-jam there from 5:30 am forward, 7 days a week, extending into 116.

Agreed. My theory is people on city councils want to approve projects, even those that bring a Rohnert Park element to town, because otherwise the job is boring.

I wonder what the traffic report will say should this prove to be more than a rumor. My jaw's dropped a few times when the official traffic reports say basically: No big deal. Well, try to get through Sebastopol to market or library or Ives pool or the Feed Store or Community Market now that we're a tourist destination because of the Barlow. I now take side streets, as do many others, increasing traffic in residential areas. Not acceptable in the long term.

Can you cite a reliable, non-biased source for this information, or are you simply spewing ill-informed, biased, agenda-pushing hyperbole?

Not sure what my agenda would be, other than wanting to stop another traffic light from going in on 116.

What part of my comments are ill-informed?

Doesn't City of Sebastopol oppose drive-throughs?

I believe so, but Starbucks was apparently grandfathered in as a fast-food restaurant taking over an existing fast-food drive-through location.

My understanding is the city did not require Starbucks to submit traffic and parking projections, which is a bit stunning.

I'm not aware of one. I'm a fairly regular customer at the current location.

I think Starbucks will be serving a special coffee drink for Sebastopol called "fait accompli."

Count me in. Their drinks are expensive and full of highly processed plant blood. To be a customer is to be a modern day vampire. I understand why they want one of the few coveted spots where consumers don't need to get out of their batmobele, the bloodsuckers are hungry and impatient.

I would agree that most of the drinks are bad. You see heavy people coming out of there with straws in their mouths, apparently thinking they're drinking something healthier than a root beer float.

I would also agree that Starbucks knows what it's doing, and my guess is will welcome a traffic light at that location.

ok I got it, there is an anti Starbucks cult!

Evidently, however, there are a lot of people who like Starbucks...

Humm... should there be a law prohibiting Starbucks?

Didn't mean to reply privately. The point is starbucks sucks. If we can't outlaw can we tax? I don't believe in either option, but this is reality...

    Hey Rossman,
Hilarious idea to tax espresso shots.
We already tax weed, booze, cigarettes, gas, sales, property, income, water, electricity, sewage, etc. Why not?

Did you know that West County has the exact same number of capaccino machines as hot tubs.
That's why we stay alert while we relax. (Hey trolls, that was just a joke, maybe)

    Does anyone remember when...
There used to be bumperstickers saying,
"Friends don't let friends go to Starbucks"
For supporting the local economy, right?
Multinational corporation vs. small cafe owner.
Anyway, Traffic study requirements probably fall in Mr. Webster's purview again.
What can we do? Did someone say let him go? "It's personal."

Anyway, whats the big rush? 5 more minutes in traffic ruins your life?
    Where's your Sebastocool outlook?
Lao Tzu explained, "One who knows how to wait, never has to wait."

The whole concept of drive up windows degrades for multiple reasons.
Maybe we can require a walk up and bicycle up window that gets priority service over the drive up window.

And when is the City, County or state going to require NO IDLING signs?
Ending idling saves gas, cuts down on air pollution and makes the town quieter with other benefits, too.

Amy's wanted to open their groovy fast food facility in Sebtown and couldn't get permission for a drive-thru.
Anyone want to buy or shut down the Burger King for them?
West America or Wells Fargo might be even better.
    Oh, well.
    Love Always!

This just in: tastes vary in coffee and pretty much everything else. I travel a lot and believe me, the sight of a Starbucks in Red America is a godsend. Those fuckers like to drink coffee they can see through. One work-around is to augment their lame-ass weak coffee with freeze-dried coffee of your choice. I get a big pack of Starbucks Via at Costco and that does the trick. Do what you will etc.

Re: Starbucks Drive-Through Going into McDonald's?

What about dunkin caffe? The coffee aficionados I've traveled with seem to like it. I can drink gas station caffeine, mix it half with the chemical laden hot chocolate. Its best to be flexible and curious rather than crashing the car in late nite driving or jet lag. Generally i prefer tea. Starsucks drinks are so gooey and sweet. Their straight coffee? not as good as ninja, where i am spoiled, so i rarely go...

Btw, i appreciate the community concern about starbucks moving across 116 to use a legacy drive through. Will it grid lock its stripmall? The owners can deal with that since they have orchestrated transition. Will it impact 116? There is a chance, location runs counter to morning flow, though hardcore serves. One thing for sure, we need to increase the speed of our speed fix so that productivity will increase otherwise the trump agenda of great again will never be complete!

It may provide a place where retired moms, punks, bored homebodies, street urchins, rock star wannabes, etc, can sit down & read, do email, tutor, write poetry, plan the next revolution... as the space is big, hopefully, with lots of tables & chairs... like the Starfucks on Farmers Lane, where you can get off the beaten path for a moment, contemplate the deeper meaning of life, overhear the ahole screaming into his cell, kids from high school doing their homework, catching up on the latest lies from Trump, planning the next organic wine / cannabis extravaganza....

A few years ago I drove the Natchez Trace Parkway (highly recommended), spent a night in Tupelo Mississippi (birthplace of Elvis!). The local Starbucks clearly was one of the happening places in that beleaguered town if you were out on the cultural edge. The clientele would have fit in nicely in Sebastopol.

You all can sneer away at Starbucks the corporation all you want, be my guest, rock out, but the employees of our local store are a nice group of people who don't deserve to be insulted. When I'm running late I can get a dark-roast coffee and a sausage-egg-muffin sandwich for under $6.00 with tip and not waste a lot of time.
