The space of The High Street Salon is a Wunderkammer of treasures selected by chef Rick Rozet from the spoils of years of travels, friendships, and community building.
Here you see the custom-build Minotaur Pizza Oven by the famed Sebastopol junk sculptor Patrick Amiot. It has a build from a pressure tank, and is modeled after the Minotaur.
In Greek mythology, the Minotaur was a creature with the head of a bull on the body of a man or, as described by Roman poet Ovid, "emibovemque virum semivirumque bovem" (Ars Amatoria 2.24, a "colorful three-part book on how to catch ‘em and keep ‘em for both men and women").
Minotaur translates as the "Bull of Minos," the mythical first king of Crete, son of Zeus and Europa (2700BC). The Minotaur was the monstrous offspring of the bestial intercourse of Pasiphaë, Minos' wife, with a snow-white bull given to Minos by the God of the Sea, Poseidon.
It is in the heat of this Minotaur oven that chef Rick Rozet finishes his unparalleled pizzas for the High Street Salon event this coming Sunday, starting at 10am.
