Greetings community,
This movement is clearly growing, locally as well as around the world. In Sonoma County, there are planned 'risings' in Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Sonoma, and Sebastopol. Anyone and everyone can rise.
Thursday morning I will be rising with 2 different music/movement classes of older adults, most in their 80's and 90's, who have learned the sitting version of "Break the Chain".
The Santa Rosa afternoon flash mob, which is expected to have hundreds there, will meet in Old Courthouse Square (near the stage) at 5 pm, and then walk to a very nearby spot to do our flash mob. Participating folks, whether dancing, singing or holding a sign, are encouraged to wear black, red, or pink. Signs are powerful and important. Write something from your heart, or use words from the song.
Amazing dance teacher, Kris Freewoman will be leading the Santa Rosa dance, which we will do twice. First in English, then in Spanish.
Come dance, whether you've learned the moves or not, whether you think you are a "good" dancer or not, whether you feel good about your body or not.
This dance is an opportunity to break out of any cage and turn our fears, inhibitions and hidden shame into a celebration.
The solidarity and support of men in this movement has been amazing, powerful and cannot be understated.
Everyone is welcome! Come dance for love!
(There is also a rising in Healdsburg too, meeting outside the Flying Goat, and dancing in the plaza)
