    Save Our Oceans, Save Our Bay
    Lori Grace with special guests

    Michael Bailey from InDefenseofAnimals.org,
    Ashley Blacow from Oceana,
    Paul Hobi from Ocean Conservancy.

    In this evening, we will look at sections of "The End of The Line" dealing with the state of our part of the Pacific Ocean and the SF Bay taking a deep look at the problems facing the ecology of the Bay today.

    Learn about the exciting work that is being done by Oceana, the Ocean Conservancy as well as Sea Stewards to help protect the wildlife and ecosystems of the Bay.

    Our presenters for this evening will include David McGuire from Sea Stewards and the Turtle Island Restoration network, Michael Bailey from In Defense of Animals, Ashley Blacow from Oceana, and Paul Hobi from Ocean Conservancy.

    We will also look at the value of creating marine protection and what is being done towards that end by Lori Grace who is spearheading the creation of the first protected marine area within the Bay, a project called Save Our Ocean, Save Our Bay.


    David McGuire

    A professional cinematographer and ocean voyager, David McGuire is a Research Associate of the Department of Aquatic Biology at the California Academy of Sciences, David is conducting a shark research program that includes population studies, movements and fisheries impacts.

    As Captain, Dive Master and filmmaker, David has explored the world ocean on numerous sailing voyages producing media with an emphasis on ocean awareness. Educated in Marine Biology, he holds a masters degree in Environmental Health and has worked in education and public health at the University of California at Berkeley for over a decade. David is the writer, producer and underwater cinematographer of several award winning documentaries.

    A noted conservationist and adventure
    program producer who places a high degree of emphasis on action.

    Generating news media coverage on CNN, BBC, the New York Times, Reuters, and other agencies, some of Michael Bailey's recent initiatives include helping to secure the Academy Award 'Oscar' for 'The Cove' movie and its presentation of dolphins and the living oceans.

    As video production and event producer for Planetviews.com. Michael Bailey provides camera, scriptwriting, editing and other production expertise to create television programs and multimedia events.

    Lori Grace has been involved in issues around ocean health, fish, turtle and marine mammal protection for over 30 years. She has worked with Michael Bailey on creating the UN ban on high seas international drift netting, Saving Japan Dolphins and the The Cove movie.

    She has also worked with David McGuire on shark protection in general and has helped create the success of the California State Shark Fin Ban. She is also raising fish in her own backyard (backyard Aquaponics) as a way of reducing demand on wild caught fish.

    Oceana's new Pacific Policy and Communications Coordinator is influencing policy to protect marine life and ensure better sustained uses of coastal and ocean resources.
