Marin Poets in the Schools benefit reading on October 5, 2010 from 7-10 pm at the Caldwell Theater at Tamalpais High School, 700 Miller Avenue in Mill Valley features an exciting evening of performance poetry by Global Justice Poet, Drew Dellinger, Performance Poet Kim Rosen with Singer/ Songwriter Scott Grace interlaced with stellar students from Marin reading their work. Hosted by Terri Glass, this evening of poetry will also feature performances by Claire Blotter, Blake More and Poetry Out Loud winner from Mendocino, Xochil Goetsky.

Drew Dellinger, founder of Poets for Global Justice, has performed at over 1000 events across the US, UK, Canada and Australia with his powerful and thought provoking poetry. His popular book of poems, love letter to the milky way is in its fourth printing. Kim Rosen has touched listeners around the world with poetry’s power to awaken, inspire and heal. She is the author of Saved by a Poem: The Transformative Power of Words and has led workshops in the US, Canada, South America and the UK.

California Poets in the Schools has brought professional poets into the classrooms for over 45 years to instill the love of language with authentic self expression. Money raised for this event will support poetry programming in Marin for schools who have lost much funding due to State cutbacks in education. This program has touched students lives and the community at large in many ways:

Reception begins at 6:30 pm with hor d'ouvres, photos in the Marin Poetry Chair, poems on demand by Silvi Alcivar with her royal red typewriter and raffle.

Tickets are $25 for adults or $15 for children 18 and under.
