In a rare appearance in the Bay Area, on Saturday April 24th, Tata OmeAkaEhekatl Erick Gonzalez will lead a presentation at the Women’s Building in San Francisco focusing on the deeper significance of the Mayan prophecies. The program will be designed to be a true example of “unity as diversity,” incorporating tribal elders from a variety of nations, indigenous dancers and musicians from many traditions. Among them will be a special appearance by the multi-talented Oaxacan musician Ernesto Olmos who specializes in many cultural art forms of the pre-Columbian peoples of Meso-America. Audience members will have an opportunity to experience Mayan ceremony and to learn about Earth Peoples United and the organization’s approach to living a healthier, more spiritually connected life.

Tata Erick Gonzalez is uniquely qualified to offer these teachings in a way that bridges traditional indigenous wisdom with the modern world. He speaks fluent Maya, Spanish and English, and is a spiritual guide and healer who was initiated into native sacred rites over a thirty year period with guidance from various Native spiritual elders from Mexico, North America, Colombia, Peru, and Guatemala. He also holds a Master’s in Psychology through Newport University in Southern California and has dedicated his life to facilitating healing and spiritual growth with Native and non-Native individuals and groups through teachings, ceremonies, and sacred traditions.

The event will help support the work of Earth Peoples United and their 1,700 acre healing center called Deer Mountain being developed near Mt. Shasta. The intention is to create a community model based on sustainability, harmonious cooperation and a collaborative existence between the natural and the contemporary worlds.

We invite you to share and appreciate the inspiration and great gifts that have been received from the Wisdom Keepers and spiritual peoples of the Earth, and to carry that forward into the future generations. Children and youth are free and there will be activities to encourage their participation.

After the program, continue your celebration of our incredible Earth by enjoying delicious food and delighting in the incredible colors and textures offered through our Mayan marketplace. A limited number of tickets are available online for $20. Tickets will also be available at the door for $25. Be sure to bring your friends and family to an amazing afternoon in celebration of our Mother Earth!
