New PG&E Smart Meters: public health, environmental and financial threat!
Come to the Sebastopol City Council meeting Feb 2 at the Teen Center in Sebastopol. (Time to be announced, likely 7pm) A PG&E Representative will attend this meeting and answer questions.
Beginning February 2010 PG&E Smart Meters will be installed on every home and business and a new wi-fi infrastructure will be added to lampposts, buildings, and telephone poles throughout Sonoma County. Smart Meters may present serious health and environment risks, as well as financial, privacy, and security concerns.
Smart Meters will emit electromagnetic radiation (RF), wireless signals throughout the day and night.
This is electrosmog air pollution.
Exposure to electrosmog has been documented to have major biological effects on living tissue. The exponential increase in the use of wireless technologies will very likely present serious public health consequences.
Overloading homes and businesses with "Smart appliances" to help save the planet?
Smart=wireless=Class 2b carcinogen=A dumb idea
There are NO safety standards for long term exposure!
How much will we be charged at what time of day?
How often do these meters emit RF?
What frequency will they use?
The EMF Safety Network is requesting public hearings from the City of Sebastopol and Sonoma County

EMF Safety Network PGE Smart Meter Review Petition
In Fresno a hundred residents packed a public hearing with complaints about being overcharged by these meters. State Senator Dean Florez is calling for a moratorium as is The Utility Reform Network. (
TURN Consumer Advocates : Index) In addition a class action lawsuit has been filed against PG&E in Bakersfield.
PG&E has failed to provide requested information on public health and safety even though they claim they have conducted a thorough evaluation on radio frequency (RF) health effects.
YOU CANNOT OPT OUT!
"Smart grids are a spectacularly dumb idea. And it’s a wonder that so many genuinely smart people don’t get that. In our headlong rush toward anything green, we might just be doing far more harm than good. This writer has yet to find a single person who, once given the details of what smart grids entail, thinks this is smart in any way." Blake Levitt/ medical and science writer
"..why put billions into new wireless technologies that are already recognized to come with a health price-tag… when – yes – as a nation our number one imperative is to reduce out-of-control health care costs. Cindy Sage, co-editor Bioinitiative Report
