Greetings Waccobians - just got this email from the Laguna Foundation. Thought some here might be interesting in taking part in this project.

Dear Tars;
As most of you know, we are in the midst of our first ever Tree-A-Thon fundraiser and volunteer tree planting event. On January 9th over 100 volunteers will meet at Sebastopol’s Meadowlark Field (next to Chevron Station on Hwy. 12) to plant over 750 valley oak and other trees and plants. This is an exciting project on so many levels. We are stretching tight dollars to restore a riparian forest in a highly visible field adjacent to the Laguna. A restoration of this kind has multiple benefits: increasing biodiversity and habitat connectivity, mitigating global climate change and let’s not forget restoring natural beauty!

To all of you who are involved in this great event, I cannot say it enough—Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. Thank you to the volunteers who will be getting the job done on the ground on January 9th. Thank you to the volunteers who are busily seeking out pledges from family, friends and acquaintances for financial support. Thank you to everyone who has pledged one of these great volunteers.

If you haven’t pledged one of one of our volunteers, won’t you consider doing so? Your financial support will help to make sure that we can continue to do restoration projects in the Laguna, teach school children about wetland ecosystems and conduct scientific studies about the ecosystem. Show your support for the volunteers and the Foundation by picking one of the volunteers listed below and sending in a pledge in any amount comfortable to you! Doing so is easy; just fill out and complete the attached Pledge Card or go to LAGUNA DE SANTA ROSA FOUNDATION - Start page where you can find all of the volunteer’s individual donation pages. Thanks in advance for your support.

Sincerely,

David Bannister
