Dear friends and neighbors - Memorials for dear departed friends and family will always continue, and though challenging to really grasp, we ourselves will leave this plane at some moment...
And "you can't take it you" - without having made arrangements, funds we leave behind will be tied up in probate and attorneys' fees and go to the government.
Also, what happens to our body, any memorial, etc, can be according to our wishes - but only if they are known. Writing specific directions for dispensing money, dealing with body, etc. allows a 'graceful farewell' and leaving our legacy to that which we value in life.
I have produced an estate planning seminar in Berkeley through KPFA (hoping for bequests)
and the second one is coming up locally in a few days, at no cost -
this coming Saturday, December 5th 10am-noon
at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts,
6780 Depot Street
behind the Sebastopol Cinema & Hwy. 12
While much valuable legal information will be offered at this gathering, along with presentation on hospice & green funerals,
lovely harp music, refreshments, and a free follow-up phone consultation by the attorney,
having the information, forms, phone numbers, etc. is just the beginning.
It is challenging to actually get these docs written; I personally would appreciate the synergy of a group to get this done, and am thinking that there are likely a number of us who would value support to approach and complete these papers.
Attend the seminar if you possibly can, and then get in touch and we can meet to do the work together. It's an ultimately mature move.
Blessings on you, your life and the great transition to the next phase,
Judith Iam
