OUR FIRST MEETING WAS A SUCCESS!!

We had a fantastic turn-out for our first Book Group meeting! Our next meeting will be held Dec. 2nd and there's still room for more folks interested in joining...if you can't make it in December, just let us know for January!

...this already feels like it will be a great group with a dynamic mix of lovely fun folks and we'd love to have you join us! If you're interested in joining or learning more please respond to this post and let us know. All ages welcome!

UPDATE: We are working hard toward establishing a diverse mix including age, background, locale, and gender. We would like to encourage more men to join us for a balance and your valued insights.

OUR NEXT SELECTION IS: Morality Play by Barry Unsworth
DATE: December 2nd, 2008
TIME: 6:30pm-7:30pm
LOCATION: e-mail for details

MISSION: Our primary goal is to have a mixed age/gender group of folks that provides an opportunity to discover & share a variety of (mostly) fiction titles.

Meeting recap: We will meet every 4th Tuesday at 6:30 (Nov./Dec. schedule is altered for holidays) at the location of that month's leader. Each month a different participant will be responsible for proposing a few book selections to the group for the following month to be voted (or otherwise agreed) upon. That person will be responsible for leading the discussion and conducting some brief research about the context of the book --the era, what was going on in the world, interesting facts about the author, etc. to share with the group to "set the stage" for the discussion. The group leader of the month will host and serve light "no-pressure" snacks. This format will allow for a variety of book selections, a mix of discussion styles, and a rotation of locations.
