Re: DOGNAPPING! black/white pitbull spayed friendly sweet 7 yr old female "MARY JANE"

I hope you've notified Animal Control so they'll be aware that a dog of MaryJane's description is "lost" and has a family. Put up signs (if you have a photo of her, include that; if no photo, describe her markings & make it clear that she's friendly, since her breed gives her a bad reputation, even tho she's a sweet dog), go to the local shelter in case she's already been picked up---don't call,GO there yourself---they are too busy & underpaid to keep track of every single dog that is brought into the shelter, or someone might overlook her---GO look yourself. Also contact local vet clinics, in case she was injured & some good samaritan brought her to a clinic for veterinary care; if she hasn't been brought in, ask them to take down your information in case she does get brought in over the next few days. Put an ad in the newspaper (include photo if available)---lost & found ads are often free, or very low cost. Offer a reward (whatever you can afford, even $50); this will get more people's attention/motivation. Go to the shelter every day (or ask a friend who knows MaryJane to check if you work when the shelter is open) to see for yourself if she's been brought in. Drive around looking for her, have a photo of her to show people you might see in the neighborhoods, ask them if they see her to call you (have some cards with your phone number & her description with you to give to people, especially if they're walking dogs---you'll know they're "dog people" & will sympathize with your situation). I wish you the best of luck finding her. Please let everyone you've asked for help (the vet clinics, the shelter, etc) when she's found so they know she's safe at home.
