Metal Detectors coming to the Board of Supervisors meeting chambers

Should you want to attend a Board of Supervisors meeting in the future to either watch or participate by commenting, you will need to pass through screening equipment, just like is used to screen you if you go to the courtrooms. This will put a cramp in things. You'll be delayed for sure. And you will not be able to come and go during a long meeting conveniently.

The County Administrator has identified the need for additional security within the Board chambers
during public meetings and within the Board of Supervisors and County Administrator office spaces. A
system that includes screening technology is proposed to provide security screening for all entering the
Board Chambers during public meetings. Given the structure of the Administration building and current
access points to the Board chambers, system installation in the Administration Building hallway is
assumed. In addition to the screening system, several design options for a visitor vestibule within the
County Administrator’s and Board offices entrance were developed.
Per the direction of the County Administrator, General Services has procured the screening equipment.
