    Dear Indivisibles,

    It's really, truly spring in Sonoma County, and wildflowers are rising from the ashes of last year's firestorm.
    Our country has gone through a political firestorm, too, and we see hope and promise in the outcome of votes in Congress as well as elections around the country.

    Fire - a natural, destructive event - stimulated all of this springtime resurgence. It opened areas to the light and let a million flowers bloom. Remember - the flowers were always there, but needed the fire to truly awaken them. And some grow best in the ashes left behind.

    The fire was devastating and heartbreaking. The losses were draining, and sometimes we lost hope. But it's spring, and we see, all over our country, that we are recovering from our firestorm.

    Your efforts over the last 18 months have fertilized this movement; every day we can see it grow. With your hard work and commitment, we will make an unforgettable impact - in June, in November, and beyond.
    Our power rests in our willingness to defend what makes our country and our world better. It rests in your hands.

    The Census
    It's rare, but people could be fined if they refuse to fill out any part of the Census form. With the addition of the 'citizenship' question, a number of us have been thinking of checking a box that isn't true, or simply leaving this section blank.

    We've heard that some of our Lantinx neighbors have been encouraged to simply not respond to the census. And recent news articles about how the US government used census data illegally to find and force removal of Japanese-American residents during WWII provide support for this advice.

    We need to continue to fight against having this set of questions on the Census. Because we need an accurate Census in order to ensure that we - in California and other states - can appropriately establish electoral districts, and have appropriate levels of federal funds for infrastructure and education.

    Extra credit:
    Call Senator Feinstein and Senator Harris and encourage them to support S. 2580, the Every Person Counts Act, to block the addition of a citizenship question to the 2020 census.

    Indivisible Sonoma County is a volunteer grassroots organization that mobilizes and organizes the people of Sonoma County by connecting them with the political processes to fight for equality and justice. Indivisible Sonoma County unites people in opposition to President Trump's agenda and his enablers. Our actions are informed by the Indivisible Guide that details effective ways to influence members of Congress. Flipping the House in the 2018 mid-term election is critical for the Indivisible movement, and some of our political actions include:

    ● Get-out-the-vote programs;
    ● Voter registration;
    ● Workshops, publications and seminars to encourage greater participation in government and politics.

    Your contribution will help us succeed -- and 20% of every donation goes to Indivisible.org. Locally, every donation goes toward basic supplies, meeting and event space, equipment and transportation for registering voters, hosting public forums, boosting our social media presence, and other items necessary for creating political change.

    We need financial resources to do this right. Please consider a recurring monthly contribution of $15-$20/month. Donating is easy! Contribute today to Indivisible Sonoma County. Together, we will win.

    Donate here, and support Indivisible as well as Indivisible Sonoma County. (No funds are used for salaries.)
