Fruit Tree Pruning and Grafting Workshop ( + Cider Tasting)

    Sunday, February 11th;12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Where Apple Bottom Farm, 8490 Occidental Rd, Sebastopol
    Cost $40
Event Website Add to Google Calendar
Join Daily Acts and Ethic Ciders to learn how to properly prune and graft! In this hands-on workshop Orchard Manager Ryan Johnston will delve into goals and techniques for winter pruning deciduous fruit trees. You値l also learn how to graft so that you can get creative with propagating your own low-cost, delicious, diverse, and site-appropriate fruit tree varieties.

The afternoon will start off with a discussion of:

    • fruit tree anatomy
    • desirable tree shapes
    • timing for pruning and grafting
    • tools of the trade
Then you値l get hands-on practice with pruning and grafting in Ethic's organic, dry-farmed orchard.

No Daily Acts event would be complete without a bit of celebration and revelry, so we値l finish up with a tantalizing tasting of Ethic Ciders, deliciously dry hard ciders crafted from the very apple trees upon which we値l be practicing our pruning. What could be sweeter!? Dryer? You get the point. Ethic will also be offering the opportunity to take home bottles right from the farm.

We hope to see you there! Please sign up in advance so we can bring enough supplies.

    When: Sunday, February 11th, 2018 | 12 4pm
Where: Apple Bottom Farm, 8490 Occidental Rd (you値l see a gate & weeping willows near the road)
    Cost: $40

A welcome email with the location and what to bring will be sent upon registration (such as your lunch, thermos, warm clothes, and pruners).

Cancellations up to February 6th will be given a full refund. 50% refund given after that date.

If it is only raining lightly, we will still have the workshop on Feb. 11th. However, if it is raining hard we will postpone this workshop to Sunday, February 25th or another date TBD. At that point participants unable to make it to the new date will have the option for a full refund. You will be notified via email if there is a rain postponement.
