    Sonoma County/Sebastopol air quality

I wish there was a temporary location where we could check the air quality before going outside, just for now since we're still quite close to the fires and ensuing problems. I tried on weather sites, but only see, so far, pollen count and the regular issues, nothing to do with the fires and all that burned.

Here's a great site for air quality:

Someone in a group I follow recommended this site, which i guess may be partly under development (not a lot of explanation of what things mean). You can sort of compare it to airnow:

Everyone's wrong right now. I've got fog and an acrid burning smell and they say the air quality is really good. (airnow 8, breezeometer 89)

I have chemical sensitivities and can't go outside even with a mask on in santa rosa.Inside isn't that great either.

Not sure why the air sites report it's good, smells like a bbq pit here.

Hi- I also have sensitivities and serious smoke allergies sensitivities. I have been in Petaluma for 2 weeks, I went back to Santa Rosa today and got so sick when I went home. I can't stop coughing. Inside and out is so bad. And its sooo surprising that no one is wearing a mask. I saw people jogging and also hiking at Howarth park and spring lake and anadell without masks. When I mentioned it to others they look at me like I am crazy, people can't smell the smoke, it was sooo bad today, it smells horrible. I had my windows and screens cleaned and the house thoroughly cleaned today with housekeepers and bought on Amazon top of the line hepa cleaners. I have to go back home tomorrow, but not sure what I will do. I plan to make the inside of my apartment as clean air as I can so I have somewhere with clean air. I also stopped at Toyota and got a new cabin air filter, as the other one was filled with smoke, so the air in my car with be clean.
I'm hoping all the rain coming next week might help. Good luck. Hope we can breath healthy air soon.

Has anyone lived near a burn zone in the past? am wondering how long does the smell last? Was hoping after the rain I could go out but still can't.

Yes. The smell lasted until the serious winter weather started.

Basically a lot of rain would be very helpful. The light rain that Sonoma County had helped corral the fires - but didn't yet end the smoke smell.

I am sensitive to smoke and dust myself.

Accuweather helped me understand the weather better during the fires. But the November forecast is surprisingly rain free.

Some info if you know someone who lives near the burn zones.
