In this current planetary moment, we are presented with an extraordinary opportunity to create truly regenerative earth and thriving human communities. To do so, it is essential that we find ways to support ourselves, individually and collectively, to be clear and effective instruments of change. Given all we are facing and all many of us live with in our day to day lives and circumstances, it is easy to feel overwhelmed. Living Resiliency teaches tools, based on cutting edge research about the brain and our biology, that increase our innate resiliency and ability to adapt to change, personally as well as in our professional and community lives. This course is for both mental health practitioners looking to further their skills in working with clients, as well as others working outside the mental health field, looking to develop tools to bring into their lives and communities.

As farmer and philosopher Masanobu Fukuoka says, “we are nature working”. Just as ecosystems have the ability to self regulate, we too have the capacity to bring our bodies and minds into balance by aligning with the brilliance of our own biology. By composing with the innate regenerative wisdom of our nervous systems, we support our overall physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. The knowledge and practices introduced in this two-day workshop will give you a solid foundation to move forward with renewed capacity and a greater ability to effect change, inwardly and outwardly.

Over the course of two days, we will draw from fields such as Somatic Psychology, Interpersonal Neurobiology, Living Systems and Permaculture to cultivate the ability to support ourselves and to learn effective teaching tools to integrate into the work we are already doing in our wider communities. Participants will experience and learn a set of skills and practices that draw on the self-healing nature of our nervous systems. We will explore the basics of current neuroscience, including physiological responses to stress and overwhelm, as well as interventions to restore our natural capacity for self-regulation and well-being. Our time will weave together didactic lecture and experiential process where we will put into practice the tools we’ve acquired.

    • Understand that our ability to develop resilience and capacity begins with a regulated nervous system
    • Realize our natural human response to ongoing stress and overwhelm, including personal, collective and intergenerational trauma
    • Recognize when you are out of balance and learn gentle interventions to encourage a return to physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health
    • Increase your capacity to stay present and available when faced with potentially overwhelming experiences
    • Expand upon permaculture principles through applying them to ourselves, as nature
