Yesterday, commiserated with Geek Squad guy about universally persistent problem of computer cords breaking right there, at the input.

New highly complex devices are daily built, we've gone to the moon, BUT NO IMPROVEMENT HERE.

This is CRAZY.

I'VE TRIED duct tape and electrical, to no avail.

Someone FIX THIS, patent, hand over to marketing company, make a bunch of bucks, and help us all out.

Most cords and connectors are designed to fail at stresses below what would ruin the device it connects to.
Example: your phone USB charger cord is designed to break instead of your phone USB (a $30 fix vs new phone).

Uh, phone/laptop/etc. does not need to break, NOR does cord need to break.

This is not like a fuse. They simply break from mechanical failure - stress fracture, bending in the same place when used over and over.

Haven't you gone through cords for that reason, and had to re-place them? I have. Jude

I admire your persistence! I just wonder if you could share that information with the "Geek Squad"......for a price, of course!! I imagine a headline like this: "Non-tech Geek Squad customer solves on going consumer problem that the GS couldn't!" Someone in management or higher might be interested. I'm such an opportunist, I'd play around with this to see what kind of response I'd get.
