    Tomorrow is NOW!

The award-winning French documentary Demain (“Tomorrow”) has finally been released in the United States! The film is screening at the Rialto from April 14-20 to coincide with Earth Day celebrations.
The Sunday, April 16th screening will feature a live Q&A session with director Cyril Dion and Robert Reed from Recology, introduced by members of Transition US, a resilience nonprofit headquartered right here in Sebastopol! “Transition Towns” were a prime inspiration for this film. Learn more at www.transitionus.org
Tomorrow is a lively and upbeat environmental documentary directed and narrated (in English) by actress Melanie Laurent (Inglorious Basterds) and activist Cyril Dion. Together, they traveled to 10 countries to meet people & explore projects making a difference in the fields of food, energy, finance, democracy & education. Check it out!

How was the film ("Tomorrow")? I had planned to go but was unable to. Some friends are thinking of going this evening. I would welcome hearing any feedback about it. Thanks.

Hi, Shepherd Anna and I saw "Tomorrow" Saturday evening, and thought it was absolute dynamite, though just a bit too long. We were very surprised that the Rialto audience for it was very small, maybe 20-30 people. The Sunday Chronicle gave it a second-best review. I really think everyone should see it.

Great turnout on Sunday night when the director was there (about 130 people!) and even though the film was relatively long (but packed with inspiring info and soundtrack) most people stayed for a very engaging Q&A with the very engaging director, Cyril Dion. Inspired conversation continued in the lobby afterwards. We got out of the theater after 10:30.

This film won the equivalent of an Oscar in France and provides stories from around the world, including several from the US. The film is unusual in that it is primarily focused on solutions and gives a real lift. One story covered was about Recology (the waste management system in San Francisco) which has a global reputation for all of the waste they divert. And it takes a film from France to help us know about it! Robert Reed from Recology was in attendance with Cyril for the Q&A.

Cyril mentioned that it is crucial to get the word out about the film and encourage people to attend in these early days. Theaters pay attention to numbers and won’t book the film unless other theater numbers are good. So far showing have beat projections. Here is where in the US to find the film. We are hoping TOMORROW could run another week in Sebastopol as there is a real enthusiasm here and very positive feedback. Please ask the Rialto to keep it here! Contact them and highlight all the potential this film brings to our community and if you think you can, tell them that you will help fill seats during another week’s run.

    Thanks for your help!

Yay - The Rialto is keeping TOMORROW for another week! If you haven't seen it yet - do consider going. It is positive, uplifting, and spirited! Just what is needed in tumultuous times.

    Carolyne
PS - Thank the Rialto for being such a great community theater too!

I recommend seeing "Tomorrow" , the documentary film at the Rialto this week. I'm going again and bringing friends. Check out the Trailer: https://vimeo.com/201669535

Many great things are happening in the world today and everyday. This film reminds me of this fact.
For my mental well being I've found it necessary to spend just as much time focused on those things I want to see more of in the world, attitudes, behaviors and projects that reflect my values, than only pushing against those things that don't reflect my values.
