Deadline December 30, 2016 - 4pm: "We need allies & protectors to write supportive comments [to the Supreme Court of North Dakota]!" [from Adam Villagomez]
VERY IMPORTANT!!! The North Dakota Supreme Court has decided to take public comments on whether to allow OUT-OF-STATE lawyers to represent Water Protectors for their trials.
Hundreds of people have been arrested in recent months at Standing Rock. Adam writes, "North Dakota Public defenders are in short supply. The handful of attorneys in private practice supportive of this cause are maxed capacity. . .We need to be given the right to bring our own attorneys from out of state. . .We have a slew of out-of-state Native attorneys (and allied attorneys) willing to help, but need to be allowed to."
Written comments may be e-mailed to Penny Miller, Clerk of the Supreme Court, at [email protected], or addressed to 600 E. Boulevard Ave., Bismarck, ND 58505-0530.
Thanks!
