    here's the fun part! we're taking a beautiful stack of strawbales and building with them like bricks for very insulating walls - keeping the heat in during the winter and the heat out during the summer. at the same time, we're assembling the roof trusses that go on top of these strawbale walls, with big eaves to keep the bales from weathering. we're lucky to have many helping hands at every stage, leading to lots of learning and empowering people to do this in other places, just as this knowledge was passed to us. some cold, wet weather is coming on thursday, so we're in a big push.
    {see photo below - this has all happened in a little over a week!}

    we're still looking for some additional funds to cover the cost of this building as a gift for the community, which will be a place for the next generation to learn and grow. this is a movement for them, after all.
    THANK YOU for all of the support - the donations, shares, words, food and hugs - that have brought us this far!

    we invite skilled builders to get in contact, not only for our project, but for others! bring your experience (), tools, flexibility and cold weather resilience.
    for our project, we'll need specific help with assembling the trusses, applying the metal roofing and attaching it to our walls, along with the finish work such as doors, windows and trim. for other projects - imagine creating of the biggest cities in north dakota, with all of the infrastructure that support daily needs, and trying to make it all resilient enough to continue functioning through an approaching, harsh winter. and if you feel a call to be in humble service in this way, please get in touch!

    in that same vein, i want to form a page that aggregates building requests from across the camps for skilled people to plug into, but i need someone/s at their home to volunteer to collaborate in managing the page, since internet access here is intentionally restricted. please be in touch if this could be you!

    tomorrow, november 15 is a national day of action, please find and attend your local event in solidarity. i promise that you, too, will be changed by it.
    .love and gratitude.
