Vote Yes on These Three 2016 County Measures: J, K and L

Measure J — to understand that this small additional tax is not just a bunch of money “for parks” In the abstract. The projects are specified (making a large voter pamphlet), so have a look at what they are. Many of them are bikeways and regional trails; other projects are access trails, facility upgrades, and new facilities in existing parks, although a few are for trails that connect parks. This is too specific to be just another slush fund.

Measure K — this measure does NOT have a financial impact (it is not a taxation proposition). It only asks voters to confirm that they support preserving and expanding Community Separators, as proposed to the Board of Supervisors by initiative. Community Separators are what keep Sonoma County from becoming a suburban wasteland like Santa Clara County. The original initiative got enough signatures so that the Supes put it on the ballot. Voters need to pass it now, to confirm that the Initiative has broad backing across Sonoma County.

Measure L — this measure would raise TOT (Transient Occupancy Taxes), paid by tourists and other visitors to the County, for repaving horrible County roads (nearly all are horribly potholed). Some really BAD ones have recently been paved. Try Irwin Road and see how much better it is! Then vote for a TOT increase so that tourists and other visitors will help pay to pave more of our bad roads.
