    Home for Beautiful German Shepherd

i posted yesterday on a lost german shepherd
i am pretty convinced she was pitched out by whomever had her
as no one has checked in w/ the Police or Humane Society looking for their lost SweetHeart

    she is a mature dog

    tho seems young
    has had puppies apparently
she is very easy going, obedient and non-aggressive
she's curious and energetic, yet is happy to lay down and chill
    enjoys riding in the car
    and tooling around on errands

if anyone is interested in adopting her
    pl be in touch
    there is no fee

she's a lovely girl, very adaptable

Please don't adopt the dog out this quickly--- 1 day is simply not long enough to wait for the owner to find her. The Humane Society can put her on a 10 day stray hold to give time to the owners. If she's not returned home by then, I'm sure there are plenty of people who would be willing to adopt her from the Humane Society.

Yeah, it is not your responsibility nor your right to find this dog a new home. The owners have a legally entitled period of time to find her (4 days for an unchipped animal, 10 days for a chipped/marked one). If you cannot hold onto the dog for that period then you need to take her to an animal shelter. There is the Sonoma Humane Society (Santa Rosa or Healdsburg locations) or the county shelter (near the airport). Ideally the dog should go to the shelter closest to where she was found.

There are no fees for a lost dog that is taken to a shelter. They will hold her the appropriate amount of time and then, if she is not claimed, will take care of any/all of her medical needs and then adopt her to an appropriate person.

You taking on this responsibility is both irresponsible and opens you up to potential legal repercussions should the actual owners be looking for her and then find out that you gave their dog to someone else. Do the right thing and take her in to a shelter.

I am grateful that you are caring for this lost dog. However, I have a suggestion which I believe is very important--have her scanned for a microchip either through the humane society or a local vet. It will contain information about where she is from, her home and owner.
I know as a fellow dog lover I would want the person who found my dog if God forbid he got lost without his tags--to go through this process before assuming the worst. Dogs get lost on vacation and in car accidents miles from home; they also can travel many miles--and tags and collars fall off.. Also, I recommend you contact German Shepherd Rescue.to help you find the dog's owner or if necessary, to find a good home.
Best of luck and thanks again..

She looks healthy and well cared for and as you said in your post, is docile yet confident. This doesn't sound like a dog who was "pitched out." Anyway,I hope you will hold off on giving her away not just for legal reasons but in fairness to her original owners. Please again have her scanned for a microchip, go through the humane society and contact German Shepherd Rescue.
    Best wishes!
