Shizo is a neutered 1 ½ Year old Akita who is not friendly with other dogs but is very trainable. Animal control will euthanize him Monday May 23rd if alternate placement isn't found. Shizo has never bitten a person however can be very intimidating so great for a guard dog purposes. Shizo can't be homed with children, however is very kind to his 2 year old mini boss. First of all, my heart goes out to Shizo and to his owners who are clearly doing their best. That said, I have to ask since this is a dog just one year old and a purebred---WHERE IS HIS BREEDER?
Responsible breeders take back dogs who do not fit into the homes where they are sold and care for them until appropriate placement can be found. Responsible breeders also breed for temperament and tractability and make sure that puppies are socialized with each other and humans.
It sounds like this didn't happen with Shizo, so I have to ask again...where is his breeder and why isn't the breeder involved in his placement???>

Shizo's Breeder passed away in 2014 shortly after Shizo was born. So she isn't able to assist in the process.

So if you know of anyone who needs a lovely large trainable dog please let us know.

Call Akita Rescue to see if they can take him. They took the last one.

Shizo passed away yesterday after a steak dinner and lots of loving from his owners. He rests at home and will never be forgotten by those who loved him. He couldn't be rehomed due to the "vicious" dog classification and the extra costs of pet liability insurance and the restrictions that go with that. Labels are never the entirety of an animal or person and I really appreciate those who are able to open their hearts and homes to hear and understand and work with these very special and beautiful friends.
