Tips from a recently arrested burgler on how he finds homes to steal from!

Tips from a recently arrested burgler on how he finds homes to steal from: Pay Attention!

On 12-17-15, Detectives from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Property Crimes Investigations unit arrested Jeffrey William Giannini, 27yrs old, in connection with at least five separate residential burglaries committed throughout Sonoma County. Giannini, a Santa Rosa resident, was located and arrested by detectives at approximately 4:00 PM in San Rafael. At the time of his arrest, he was in possession of numerous stolen items, which had been taken in at least five different burglary cases. Numerous items believed to be stolen have yet to be connected with reported burglary cases. Detectives are working to identify victims and return stolen property. Most items recovered were computer electronics, jewelry, coins and a firearm that had been stolen in a residential burglary in Sonoma on 12-15-15.

On 12-15-15, a UPS driver working in the Sonoma area saw a man jump from the backyard of a home on Barcelona Drive. The driver thought the man was suspicious and took photos of the man’s vehicle as it was driven away. The UPS driver then contacted a neighbor who discovered and reported the burglary. Using the photos provided by the UPS driver, detectives were able to identify, locate and arrest Giannini.

Giannini admitted to the Sonoma burglary and confessed to having committed numerous burglaries over the past month in Healdsburg, Windsor, Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Petaluma, Calistoga and Novato. Giannini explained that he would walk neighborhoods during the day and look for unoccupied homes to burglarize by knocking on doors and waiting to see if anyone answered. If someone answered he would give the excuse that he was looking for his lost dog then leave.

At this time, Giannini is charged with five counts of burglary – 459 PC, Receiving Stolen Property – 496 PC and Violation of Probation. His bail was set at $450,000.

Anyone with information regarding this case or who may believe they were victims in this case are asked to contact Detective Don Fletcher at 707-565-2185. Please be advised that it may take some time for a response as there is a multitude of stolen items to process and victims to identify.
