Help Animal Victims of the Valley Fire

We all know that there is a devastating fire in Lake County. We've seen the apocalyptic photos on the news. Hundreds of people have lost everything. Among this disaster, Middletown Animal Hospital was miraculously spared. The veterinarian Dr. Jeff Smith has opened his practice to offer free veterinary care to any animal that needs it. He and his staff are working around the clock to help save animals who are lost, hurt, and even burned by the fire. The veterinarians and staff are also being allowed behind the scenes to search for animals in need. Not everyone's pets made it out, and as homeowners return, they are finding survivors who often need urgent veterinary care for burns, smoke inhalation, and more.

The reality is that the veterinary hospital still has operating expenses, but they are no longer charging for their services, because people can't pay for it. That's where you come in. We, as Sonoma County citizens, are neighbors to Lake County. Many of us have friends and family who live in Lake County. We are asking you, as neighbors and fellow animal lovers, to open your hearts to the suffering of Lake County's animals and support Middletown Animal Hospital. This is the link to their GoFundMe campaign:

    Thank you,

How about if the American Red Cross covers the clinic's operating expenses and salaries for the next 3 months?

Even if they did, which they wont, it doesn't make a dent in what they've stolen from victims of all the major disasters they've been involved in. If they didn't do the right thing in the beginning, and have been outed, their energy will be now focused on covering their asses, not helping after the fact. They've been fined before, and need to face major fines now. But since our government supports them financially, I have serious doubts about retribution and restitution.

Just being a tad snarky there, Shandi!

And you have a great point about their focus shifting to CYA. It always happens with those types of organizations.
