18th Annual Reforestation Project
Start the New Year by planting trees on rural Sonoma land.
This January, Forest Unlimited will be planting approximately 1,150 redwood seedlings
for reforestation and erosion control at the Wildwood Retreat Center in the hills above
Guerneville. All we lack are volunteers to help plant the trees. Supervised children are welcome.
The planting dates are Friday, January 9th and Saturday January 10th
Each day we will rendezvous at 8:30 a.m. at the Park and Ride on Highway 116 (at Brookside
Lane) in Guerneville. You may help either day or both days. The morning sessions
will last from 9:30 to 12:30 and the afternoon sessions will last from 1:30 to 4:30. All
equipment and a free lunch, including drinks and snacks, will be provided compliments
of the Wildwood Retreat Foundation.
The seedlings average about 14-inches in height and are not difficult to plant. This
beautiful 210-acre property is protected by a conservation easement. The land will be
preserved undeveloped in perpetuity. The seedlings will not be subject to future logging.
To sign up and/or to ask any questions, please contact Carl Wahl at
[email protected] or 874-9268. To properly plan for the planting and the lunches,
we request the courtesy of a reply.
