~Large Peaceful, fenced in Zen back yard with a hot tub, cold plunge, fire pit, glass atrium, a pond that needs some work, room to garden, a very little grove of redwoods & space to relax.
~Washer & Dryer available
~High Speed Internet

We are one male and one female in our mid 20's both conscious, organic, vegetarian eaters (seafood on occasion) who cook meals together, and would like someone with similar eating habits. We cherish a clean environment and must be willing to help keep home clean, contribute to chores and work on projects in the yard. We prefer a female around our same age and must appreciate electronic music being played in the house and 420 friendly.

We do enjoy going out to music in Sebastopol every Wednesday night, & often on the weekends. Sometimes we will have friends over late night to hangout/ listen to music/ have a bonfire, etc.

As much as we would love to have them around, we can NOT have any pets on the premises.

We split utilities, which usually is about $50 each a month.

Rent is month to month, with a $800 deposit (slightly flexible) but prefer someone who is willing to stay longer and contribute to the household.

Located near Green Valley and Ross Road

Please send us some information about yourself, your interest, and any further questions you may have.

We are an established medical cannabis collective in Sonoma County. Due to a couple of our members passing away, a couple more moving out of the area, and a small expansion we now have space for a few new members.

We would like to find several people, preferably with serious conditions, who would like to not only authorize us to grow for them but would be willing to participate in our strain research. (see notes at bottom of post)

We do not do the "flavor of the month" thing. Nor do we seek out the most intoxicating strains.

What we do do is specialize in old strains, and some modern crosses. We are seeking a baseline of strains that offer the most beneficial effects to patients with the least negatives to incorporate into our breeding program.

Our cannabis is grown with love and care in "greenhouses" under natural light, using only composts, fertilizers, and pest controls that are approved for Organic use. Our emphasis is on quality over quantity.

We currently have over 15 strains- many more then two decades old- many of which have been the basis of many of the modern strains. Our strains have many unique qualities and charachteristics- some imparted by the strain and some from the "terroir" - the local conditions of weather and soil under which they are grown.

We do two crops a year- the first finished, and processed in late summer- july/august, the second finished/processed in late October/november. Our greenhouses, which are open yet covered, provide the best of both worlds. The terroir of outdoor with the protection from rains of indoor.

Our members are entitled to "purchase" flowers and extracts from us at a rate that covers our costs. Generally $125-$150 an ounce depending on strain and the particulars of the season. Please understand that during the heart of the season- early spring to late fall we have several people working 50-70 hr weeks to ensure the highest quality product. Plus the costs of all the infrastructure, materials, fertilizers, etc. Harvest and the processing likewise employs a dozen or more seasonal workers. And the supposed "off season" is spend doing deliveries, maintaining and preparing plants for the season, infrastructure and land maintenance, etc. etc.

* We would prefer to find members with serious conditions who are willing to fill out questionairs for us on the various strains. We would like feedback, relative to your particular condition, on both the positive and negative effects of each variety. We offer very slight discounts, or more often, extra material, to those willing to accept strains labeled by only a code to prevent bias based on perceptions of a strain. Obviously we are motivated to work with you and provide you with strains we thing are best for you if you inform us of your general preferences (indica/sativa), your favorite strains, and/or effects you most desire/ negative effects you most wish to avoid.

During the winter retreat (Yarne) at Gampo Abbey this past winter, our beloved Ani Pema Chodron
taught on the classic Buddhist theme of the "Four Marks of Existence," impermanence, egolessness, suffering, and peace. These four facts of life are doorways to unconditional, open-ended, unfixated truth, and are essential to the teachings of the Buddha. Pema's accessible and humorous style brings these profound principles down-to-earth and helps us to see how they apply in our own personal experience.

Starting on Wednesday evenings., June 12-July 31st, from 7-9 p.m. as part of our Open House Shambhala Dharma Night program, we will view these talks over an 8-week period. The evening begins with a short period of sitting meditation (meditation instruction will be offered), followed by the talk and group discussion.

We The People are getting played once again, as Bob Scheer cogently explains. The career of Mike McConnell aptly illustrates the way the corporatocracy operates. He moves from the NSA to Booz Allen Hamilton demonstrating how seamlessly the intelligence gatherers of government are merged with the corporate sector. Big Media, another component of the corportocracy, is evident in the New York Times columns of Thomas Friedman and Bill Keller, two lickspittles for Big Defense. George H.W. Bush is a senior partner in the Carlyle Group which owns Booz Allen.

Scheer refers to 9/11 as the "gift that keeps on giving" because it was used to justify an invasion of Iraq, a country that had no connection to the WTC operation. Scheer asks, as many have, why we attacked Iraq when the alleged terrorists were from Saudi Arabia. He might also have asked why several planeloads of Saudis were allowed to leave the U.S. after 9/11 when there was a ban on all commercial flights. He might also have noticed that Saudi oil men are major investors in the Carlyle Group. Anyone might notice the enormous profits that have flowed to Big Defense and Big Military following 9/11. 9/11 has been used as a pretext for expansion of America's global hegemony. One consequence of 9/11 has been the looting of the U.S. Treasury of $3 Trillion dollars. Schools, infrastructure, jobs, social services have all been impoverished because of the seizing of America by the corporatocracy. Now, the American hero, Edward Snowden, has revealed how the NSA/Booz Allen is surveilling all U.S. citizens. Why would they be doing that? Could it be they're looking for dissent among the citizenry?

By Robert Scheer

For defense contractors, the government officials who write them mega checks, and the hawks in the media who cheer them on, the name of the game is threat inflation. And no one has been better at it than the folks at Booz Allen Hamilton, the inventors of the new boondoggle called cyberwarfare.

That’s the company, under contract with the National Security Agency, that employed whistle-blower Edward Snowden, the information security engineer whose revelation of Booz Allen’s enormously profitable and pervasive spying on Americans now threatens the firm’s profitability and that of its parent hedge fund, the Carlyle Group.

Booz Allen, whose top personnel served in key positions at the NSA and vice versa after the inconvenient collapse of the Cold War, has been attempting to substitute terrorist for communist as the enemy of choice. A difficult switch indeed for the military-industrial complex about which Dwight Eisenhower, the general-turned-president, had so eloquently warned us.
But just when the good times for war profiteers seemed to be forever in the past, there came 9/11 and the terrorist enemy, the gift that keeps on giving, for acts of terror always will occur in a less than perfect world, serving as an ideal excuse for squandering resources, as well as our freedoms.

Just ask New York Times columnists Thomas Friedman and Bill Keller. Rising to the defense of NSA snooping on a scale never before imagined in human history, they warn us that if there was a second 9/11-type attack, we would lose all of our civil liberties, so we should be grateful for this trade-off.

“I believe that if there is one more 9/11—or worse, an attack involving nuclear material—it could lead to the end of the open society as we know it,” Friedman wrote in his June 11 column.

No nation in history has ever possessed such an imbalance of military superiority and the ability to ward off foreign threats without sacrificing its core values. Never has this country been as vulnerable to foreign attacks as when the founders approved our Constitution with its Fourth Amendment and other protections of individual sovereignty against an intrusive government. They did so out of the conviction that individual freedom makes us stronger rather than weaker as a nation. In short, they trusted in the essential wisdom of the people as opposed to the pundits who deride it.

Defending Friedman’s column, Keller wrote Sunday:
“Tom’s important point was that the gravest threat to our civil liberties is not the NSA but another 9/11-scale catastrophe that could leave a panicky public willing to ratchet up the security state, even beyond the war-on-terror excesses that followed the last big attack.”
So it’s the panicky public’s fault and not the ill-informed work of establishment journalists like Friedman, who led the charge to war with Iraq based on phony claims about terrorism.

Once again, Friedman has a misplaced faith in the work of the intelligence community. The NSA snooping was quite extensive before 9/11 and certainly in full force prior to the Boston Marathon attack, but did not prevent either event. Indeed, our much-vaunted spy agencies still have not come up with an explanation of how 19 hijackers, 15 from our ally Saudi Arabia, managed to legally enter this country and learn flying skills while under our government’s watch.

Nor have those intelligence agencies explained why the only three countries that recognized the Taliban government sponsors of al-Qaida were that same Saudi Arabia as well as our other friends in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. For information on the UAE connection, the NSA might check with its buddies at Booz Allen Hamilton.

As The New York Times reported Saturday: “When the United Arab Emirates wanted to create its own version of the National Security Agency, it turned to Booz Allen Hamilton to replicate the world’s largest and most powerful spy agency in the sands of Abu Dhabi. It was a natural choice: The chief architect of Booz Allen’s cyber strategy is Mike McConnell, who once led the NSA and pushed the United States into a new era of big data espionage. It was Mr. McConnell who won the blessing of the American intelligence agencies to bolster the Persian Gulf sheikdom, which helps track the Iranians.”

Tracking the Iranians, you say? But they’re not the enemies who attacked us on 9/11, and indeed they are Shiites, who were implacably hostile to the Sunni fanatics of al-Qaida. The reasoning makes sense only if you follow the money that the UAE can pay. “They are teaching everything,” one Arab official told The New York Times about Booz Allen’s staffers. “Data mining, web surveillance, all sorts of digital intelligence collection.”

How great. Now, it’s not just the government we elect but also those everywhere, even in desert emirates, that can mine our data.
“The NSA data mining,” Keller assures us, “is part of something much larger. On many fronts, we are adjusting to life in a surveillance state, relinquishing bits of privacy in exchange for the promise of other rewards.”

Behold McConnell. While director of national intelligence from 2007-09, he did much to inflate the threat of cyberterrorism; he then returned to the private sector and was rewarded with $4.1 million his first year back at Booz Allen, solving the problem he had hyped while heading the NSA. There’s a guy who knows how to play the game.

Read today’s Press Democrat’s biased article on yesterday’s peaceful memorial service for the dead trees surrounding the schools with some 700 students on Watertrough Rd. in the Sebastopol countryside being butchered by the Paul Hobbs Winery and weep. These children are like sacrificial lambs to the bloated wine industry. Pesticides, such as Hobbs uses, are documented to cause and worsen a variety of problems, including cancer, asthma, and developmental/reproductive problems.

The article is a classic example of unbalanced reporting. I accuse the PD of the following:

1. Professional journalism is supposed to have a "firewall" between its advertisers and its news. Hobbs and the wine industry advertise heavily in the PD, which treats them as heroes, which they are not. The wine industry rules Sonoma County. They are basically industrial alcohol producers, who have transformed the natural “Redwood Empire” into the commercial “Wine Country.” However, there are many good wine-grape growers who follow organic and sustainable practices here, which does not include Hobbs.

2. It is inaccurate to say "Twin Hills School District is working with Paul Hobbs..." They work FOR him, as does the Agricultural Commissioner.

3. Where is that "fence to limit the dust" that the article alleges? I did not see it when I was there yesterday, as the dust flowed over us.

4. Twin Hills Schools Superintendent Barbara Bickford has not taken "great strides to address the concerns" of parents and neighbors, as she contends. She lies as badly as do the Ag. Com. and the Hobbs PR person Tara Sharp.

5. Is the reporter blind? He writes,"Hobbs is required to water the fields during tree removal." Where was that water? The dust was so bad that I had to leave, or it could have ignited an asthma attack.

6. Hobbs is no "grower," as Superintendent Bickford alleges. He is an industrial alcohol producer with a long record of clear-cutting trees to extract more wealth from our county. He is no “local farmer,” as he contends, who gets his hands in the dirt, but a global wine baron with vineyards in at least half a dozen countries. He has a long history of skirting permits, paying paltry fines, and stealing land from neighbors. He skirts permits, pays the paltry fines, and steals land from his neighbors.

The PD article is not balanced; it is biased. It could be used in journalism classes on journalism, such as I’ve taught, as a sample of what not to do.

This vineyard conversion was a done deal long before the public heard about it. Government and school officials concealed the information that this travesty was going to happen, lacking transparency. Only until all permits and paperwork were finished for Hobbs to proceed did Bickford release information to parents.

This article is a cover for the Paul Hobbs Winery's contamination of that land and its poisoning of the students and others who visit those schools. Shame on them! Hobbs gives the many decent and real growers a bad name.

At least the PD got some good quotes from Thomas Cooper, a parent, of the new Apple Roots Group, the event’s organizer, and Lori Gatmaitan, a mother of one of the students. The direct action was theirs, which is what the focus should have been in the article. Instead, more ink was given to those defending Hobbs, a known bad apple and bad neighbor. But he is rich, and gives money to those who support him.

I hope some of you can join Lori and Thomas today around 2 p.m. at the bought-off Board of Supervisors. Why aren’t the supervisors representing their constituencies?

I imagine that Sonoma West News and Times will do a better job of reporting, as usual. Look for its coverage online Wed. night and in print Thur. a.m., well worth the 50 cents.
Critically acclaimed as “an emotional diary about life and death; One of the best films of the year," and an "intimate documentary examining a normal-but remarkable man and wife's handling of his fatal disease ranks among the year's most moving films,” I am Breathing is a documentary about the thin space between life and death. Neil Platt ponders the last months of his life. Within a year, he goes from being a healthy young father to becoming completely paralyzed from the neck down. As his body gets weaker, his perspective on life changes.

As part of Global Awareness Day for motor neuron disease (MND), also known as ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease, the film will appear on screens worldwide from Australia to Ukraine with the aim to promote awareness and raise funds for MND research. Sebastopol is the lone Bay Area screening scheduled.
This fatal disease robs people of the ability to walk, talk and move; it traps them inside a body they can no longer control until such essential involuntary muscle actions such as breathing can no longer be sustained. There is no known cause of the disease.

The film will be screened at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts, 282 S. High St at 7pm. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Center for the Arts, by calling 707-829-4797, or online at www.brownpapertickets.com

Hello!

I'm taking off on a road trip Monday, June 24th and would love to have someone stay in my room to offset costs! I return somewhere around July 10th. We will be sure to arrange specific date agreements before I take off. Here's the info:

THE HOME
3 Bedroom, 2 bathroom with a huge living room made for yoga and a smaller room we call the "grandma room" for lounging on the couch. Great big kitchen, dining table, big porch with couches, a huge yard including a just-begun garden and a geodesic dome I'm turning into an art space (which could use some love while I'm gone).
We are on Price Ave, just south of Hwy 12. Super accessible to both downtown Santa Rosa and downtown Sebastopol.

THE ROOM
My room is a small cozy bedroom facing north, and shares a bathroom with Ilana. Speaking of Ilana...

THE HOME DWELLERS

Expand

Ilana is an active woman who loves roller derby and teaches a mean acro yoga class. She is around the house a lot during the day.
Oliver is a music therapist, incredibly talented fiddle player, loves to cook. He has days where he works from home and other days he's out healing people through music.
Amrita is a farmer, mechanical engineer and most of all, a really sweet person. She brings us home fresh veggies from her farm all the time. Her and Oliver are engaged and awesome together.
Sebastian is Ilana's 9 year old, 9 pound chihuahua who likes a chill environment and may bark at you at first, but he's just waiting to be loved up and be your friend.
Homer is Amrita and Oliver's 110 pound Anatolian Shepard, who is a big oaf and loves to lounge around the house and wait to be pet or get treats. Homer and Sebastian make a dynamic duo.

YOU
Perhaps you love your quiet time at night (we call Oliver and Amrita Grandma and Grandpa), and perhaps you love to cook a meal here and there with roommates when the timing is right? Maybe you would love to have a place to garden a bit while you're looking for your long-term home? Maybe you love to bike and would just LOVE to be so close to the bike trail. You gotta be pretty cool with dog hair. And dogs! And...I dunno, we're pretty easy going and like to keep the kitchen clean. I love my house, and it would be great to have someone who can really love it too while I'm gone!

Please give me a call and you can come by! We all have varying schedules, but we will attempt to have you chance upon each housemate.

Sparkles,

Ash

Hello Wacco People (please do not be insulted, I'm fairly wacko my self, it keep life interesting :)

My friend (female) has not just fallen through the cracks, she's getting stuffed through them. She is disabled and most of the time it's not an issue. I am her closest friend and her IHSS worker so I know her fairly well. When an issue does crop up, as long as no one is trying to use her illness against her, it will straighten out again in a day or two.. We are working on getting the meds just right to allow her to have a good stable and useful life again. The system is just not set up to deal with everyone on a one to one basis... they just try to stuff all the squares pegs through the same hole one of them once fit through... even squares come in many sizes and just because the side you see is square, does not mean all the sides are... Sorry about that... I get lost in metaphors.. :hmmm:

Any way... I'm watching WaccoBB closely so please if you have some space and some understanding and do not want to see a good and kind, but disabled person end up on the streets just because none of the help systems houses are geared towards her troubles, Please speak up.

I will be around often to help her get to places she needs to go and to just help out in general... She has a great heart and a kind (and abused) soul and some of the worst luck you've ever seen... Would you believe she survived cancer but now the cure for her cancer has given her degenerative bone disease! Her life has just beaten her down the last 7 or so years... and she needs a chance to get balance back in her life... physically, mentally, and medically...

Are you the one that can help me, help her, to help herself? send e-mail, or even call me (Adam) 707.536.1090

she knows I'm looking hard for a place for her, but she does not know that I asking all of you if any of you can help. I am hoping the right person/place is out there, and that we can surprise her soon (homeless shelters are really hard on people disabled in the ways she is. (just so you know, she will not end up in a shelter if I have anything to say about it but my money is very limited. We will go car camping first. I don't bail on my friends until I have done everything I can... so I'm asking you all for help, because that is something I can do.)

Limited time options will not be looked down on... if you can provide a place to live for a week or two or a month or two, that's better by far then being on the streets. If your reading and wishing you could help, thank you so much, peace and a long happy life to you for just caring and wishing... if you can help, well I just don't know how to thank you.

Adam (for Kim)

My family and I are relocating to the area this Fall. We are looking for a rental, house for sale or lease-option by September 1st. We are happy, tidy, non-smoking, responsible professionals with a young child. We love good food, family, fun times and friends and are very much looking forward to moving to this beautiful area.

We are looking for:
1. A rental home that is newly built, updated or modern.
2. A home for sale that is a fixer-upper and a good investment for our family.

Here’s what our ideal home would have. I’ve thrown everything I’d ever wish for (sans small vineyard on property ) but we are open to all possibilities.

Our ideal rental home would have:
3+ bedrooms and den/office (or 4-5 bedrooms)
2.5+ baths
Gas Appliances (stove/oven)
Washer/Dryer
1-2 bedroom Guest House/Granny Unit (that I could use for meetings with my clients)
@ 1800-2500+ square feet
Some Hardwood/Hardwood-like Flooring
Modern Bathrooms/Kitchen
Yard (with garden or where we could put a small vegetable garden + space for a young child to run around)
Beautiful Natural Views (my dream would be to sit on a patio or front/back porch and be able to watch the sunset every evening)
Away from too much light pollution so we can have starry nights (our son has only seen stars in Sonoma. They are non-existent in Los Angeles)
Large Tub/Sauna would be a major bonus!
15-18 minutes or less from Summerfield Waldorf School
Locations: Sebastopol, Santa Rosa, Windsor, Forestville, Graton

Our ideal home for sale would be a home that is gently worn or a fixer-upper with great bones. A home that has been loved but is ready to experience a new family's warmth and care. We would like to buy a home on a larger parcel of land (1/2 acre or more). We are looking for a home for sale by owner (no agents please).

We honor and respect our homes and have taught our 4 year-old to do the same. Our current landlord would be happy to provide you with a reference if you have or know of the perfect rental/home for sale/lease-option for us. We’re looking forward to our new life in Sonoma County!

Warmly,

SACRED SUPPER, Tuesday, June 25, 7pm
Gathering in a way that is nourishing to the belly, the heart and the soul.
The purpose of this gathering is to break bread together while enjoying conversations that matter in a safe and sacred space. It’s more important than ever to share intimate, authentic, evolved dialogs with like minded humans. We build and strengthen ourselves and our communities by weaving our stories, our hopes and needs, and our sharing from the heart.

Sacred Supper is a warmly focalized, heart and spirit centered gathering with conscious conversation over dinner, and outside around the fire. Join us for spirited dialogs touching on an array of topics and threads woven to call out our wisdom, knowledge, innovations and inspirations !! As always, it’s a mysterious blend of strangers and friends, fine feasting and hopefully, some deep belly laughter.

A beautiful meal is provided !! Please bring and share any kind of current information/inspiration/aspiration that is important and compelling to you. Pass the word among your peeps, bring a friend. If weather permits, we’ll have a fire in my lovely yard. Bring musical instruments, your voice, your prayers, layers and anything that you may want to drink.

$20 per person…7pm...
P.l.e.a.s.e rsvp by e-mail...Sliding scale available.

Hello General Community,

I'm looking for a rural property, local farm or community center in Sebastopol or the surrounding area to host a children's mindfulness program.

The program is designed to help children cultivate self-awareness, build empathy, reduce stress, develop self-regulation skills, connect with nature, and cultivate systems thinking. It's based on the Mindful Schools curriculum that has been shared with over 30,000 children since 2007. The content is delivered through story-telling, games, handwork, kinetic activities, and other contemplative practices.

I'd like to begin the week of July 15th -- meeting once per week for 1-1/12 hours. The program will run for twelve weeks initially and then potentially continue ongoing.

My background in this field includes serving the GGFZC children's program, completion of Mindful Schools curriculum training, implementing a spring 2013 program at SunRidge Waldorf charter school, and a personal mindfulness practice of 10+ years. This summer I'm continuing my mindfulness in education training with Thich Nhat Hanh.

The ideal spot would be a rural setting or local farm where the children can touch the earth but also come inside if the weather requires; however, I am open to any potential location. I can be reached by email at
mettamama@yahoo.com and would be grateful for any leads.

Archaeological research along the Laguna de Santa Rosa resulted in the discovery of the oldest dated artifact in Sonoma County. This artifact, along with several thousand others from dozens of archaeological investigations, tells the story of the interaction between the area's earliest occupants and the Laguna.

Archaeologist Tom Origer will be presenting this history and its significance to modern Sonoma County. As a special treat, the Laguna's oldest artifact will be on display.

Hello!

I am looking for a weekly ride from Sebastopol (Occidental, actually, but I could bike in) to Berkeley every Tuesday morning from late August-December. I'm also looking for a ride back Thursday afternoons.

If you're going anywhere in East Bay, or even to SF, I would like to carpool and then I'd take BART.

I'm a 30 year old graduate student, which is why I need to get to Berkeley.
I am a non-smoker, sufi/yogi, can listen to radio or music or silence or about your life. I'm positive, grateful, and understand hardship in life as well.

I would pay gas money, since I don't have a car to offer.

Though it is a couple months away, I'm looking now so I don't have to buy a car, and can better care for the Earth. Please let me know if you are interested! Or please pass this along to anyone you know who commutes. Or let me know where else to look!

Peace,
Shannon

McDowell, Petaluma, 4pm on Sunday, June 23rd, co-hosted by Petaluma Grange, Aqus Community, Save Shollenberger Park and Petaluma Film Series. Chapters of the film are narrated by Robert Redford, Meryl Streep, Van Jones, Ashley Judd and Isabelle Allende. The film is currently playing at festivals around the world. Suggested donation: $10-15. Kitchell won Sundance awards and an Academy Award nomination for his film, Berkeley in the Sixties.

The film showing marks the first time Petaluma Grange, Aqus Community, Save Shollenberger Park and Petaluma Film Series have collaborated with Lydia Kindheart’s Sunflower Center for a film screening and many members of each group are also members of others on the list! Activities begin at 3pm with Lydia’s special vegan and raw food samples, $1-5, natural energy drinks and a chance to “fly” on a yoga “skychair” while viewing an ongoing video panorama, Lydia’s jewelry, artwork, organic cotton and hemp clothing, raw and vegan foods in jars and bags for purchase.

The film fits the mission of Petaluma Grange to “foster a sustainable community by advocating for local farmers and the creation of equitable, resilient local agricultural and food systems”. Petaluma Grange meets each 4th Monday at the Petaluma Seedbank and guests attend by invitation with occasional public events.
A Fierce Green Fire offers an in-depth study of Greenpeace, Earth First, Sierra Club and a host of resilience-oriented groups including the Occupy movement and ends with a call to pitch in and work toward a sustainable future locally, globally.

“I’m excited about this convergence of environmental players in the North Bay. Showing up is the first step toward collaboration on the bigger issues,” said Kitchell.
